He enlisted 1st May 1916, with his brother, hence consecutive regimental numbers and they embarked together from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A49 Seang Choon on 23 September 1916.
His brother Private John Galloway died of disease in United Kingdom and is buried in Aberden.
