2018 Private (Pte) Henry John Cox, 26th Infantry Battalion, of Parkham, Tas. A farmer prior to enlistment Pte Cox embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Melbourne on SS Makarini on 10 September 1915. On 12 October 1916, whilst serving with the 2nd Division Australian Trench Mortar Battery, Pte Cox was killed in action in Belgium, aged 22.

TASMANIAN CASUALTIES
Mrs. Frank Barrett of Burnie has received intimation that her cousin Pte. Henry Cox of Parkham has been killed in action in France. Pte. Cox went through the Gallipoli campaign and was amongst the first contingent to proceed to France. Since going on active service he had never missed a day through sickness. He was a brother of Messrs. Andrew Ernest and Will Cox of Ridgley.
