Harold Pierpoint (12556) was born at Stanthorpe, Qld on 8 Jan 1897; his next of kin was his father, James Pierpoint, of Stanthorpe, Qld. His occupation was carpenter. He enlisted with the Dungarees at Warwick on 14 Nov 1915. He was discharged on 8 Mar 1916 without ever having embarked. He re-enlisted in SYdney on 13 Mar 1916 under the name of his uncle, James Henry Pierpoint, He served in Belgium and France with the 36th Battalion from October 1916 until December 1918. He returned to Australia on the "Orontes" on 20th December 1918 and was discharged  due to shell shock on 17 March 1919. He died in july 1970 and is buried in Newcastle,  NSW.
