Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
William O'Shea was 43 years of age when he died. According to the Battalion history he was was known throughout the battalion as 'Dad' O'Shea, and regarded in a kindly and affectionate spirit by his younger mates.
William worked as a mechanic or shedman for the Tramways Board in Melbourne and his parents were long deceased when he joined up.
He only arrived in France with his Battalion on 8 June 1916. He died of wounds less than three weeks later when the Germans raided the 14th Battalion trenches, a skirmish which commenced with a very heavy and destructive bombardment.
