Lucy Salmon, nee Rudder, 1868-1936, bore 15 children and raised 16. Of the 16, 3 died as infants. Of the surviving 13, 3 were girls and did not go to war. Of the ten boys who grew to adulthood, five served in WW1. 

Laurence Armitage Salmon (1891-1921) who enlisted in the 26th Battalion 3/4/1915. Laurence was discharged as medically unfit 8/11/16 due to his epilepsy and later died from the effects of his war service in a Mental Hospital in 1921.
