Died on this date - 19th March........Private William Humphreys was born around 1882 at Collingwood, Melbourne, Victoria. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 23rd October, 1916 as a 36 year old, single Cook from Collingwood, Victoria.

Private Humphreys arrived in England for further training on 29th January, 1917. He was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire on 18th March, 1917 with concussion.

Private William Humphreys died at 5.25 a.m. on 19th March at Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire from Injuries – Concussion of the Brain.
A Coroner's Court was held & his death was found to have been due to concussion of the brain, caused by his being accidently knocked down by a car driven by Arthur Sydney Hughes. (follow link below for full story).

He was BURIED IN DURRINGTON CEMETERY, WILTSHIRE where 139 other WW1 Australian Soldiers are buried.
