Biography contributed by Ellen Magill

Harold Wallis Wark was raised in Timboon, where his father, Thomas was a sawmiller. His father died of pneumonia in 1908 and 14 year old Harold helped with his younger family members. He worked hard and became a farmer.
He enlisted at Warrnambool and after embarking his mother heard that he was in good health and spirits, when they arrived in Fremantle.
14 days after leaving Fremantle, Harold was admitted to the ship's hospital. He was diagnosed with meningitis. Just 10 days after his cheerful letter to his mother. He was buried at sea.
