GEORGE BENTLEY RAE McALISTER, the son of Mr. Edward and Mrs. Mary McAlister, was born on 13th November, 1888, at Southland, New Zealand.  He was educated at the Gore High School, and entered the service of the Bank at Gore on 13th November, 1905. His subsequent transfers were to  Christchurch in May, 1909; Fielding in October, 1911 ; Head Office, October, 1912; Bathurst Street in November, 1912; and Bombala, as teller, in  March, 1914.
He enlisted on 9th January, 1916, and joined the 20th Battalion in France, being eventually promoted to the rank of company quartermaster-sergeant. He returned home in February, 1919.

Mr. G.B.R. McAlister, who left Singleton last Saturday, after four and a half years' service as accountant in the local branch of the Bank of New South Wales, met with misfortune a day or two after arriving in Sydney to take up duty in the head offic.  News has been received that he was admitted to St. Vincent's Hospital on Tuesday with Pneumonia, and his condition was such as to give cause for the gravest anxiety.
