11 stone 5 lbs; ruddy complexion; blue eyes; black turning grey hair;
Church of England.

1/7/1915       Enlisted in Melbourne, Victoria

20/7/1915      appointed to Corporal

14/9/1915     Commanding Officer appointed Charles to 9th reinforcements,
                    14th Battalion, Broadmeadows Camp

27/9/1915     Embarked from Port of Melbourne on board HMAT A20 Hororata
                    as a Private in the 4th Infantry Brigage, 14th Infantry Battalion,
                    9th reinforcements

Landed in Egypt in October 1915.  He was with his unit until January 1916, when he
was sent to hospital with dental issues.

8/1/1916       taken on strength from 9th reinforcements, Moascar Egypt
                    reverted to Private at Moascar Camp, Ismailia
                    posted to B Company

18/1/1916     sick with Pyrosea Alocolaria
                    admitted & transferred to No.1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Ismailia
20/1/1916     admitted to No.2 General Hospital, Cairo
                    dental issues - 'all' teeth extracted (sent to Montazah for 4 weeks)
28/2/1916     discharged to Ghezireh o/s base, ex Montazah Convalescent Camp

                    sick with - Neurasthenia - Charles had stated he had had stabbing
                    headaches and dizziness for the past 4 months, and cannot sleep,
                    which commenced on doing Musketry at Tel-El-Kebir
                    admitted to No.3 Auxillary Hospital, Cairo

5/7/1916       embarked on board HMAT Karoola, ex Suez, Egypt to return to Australia
3/8/1916       arrived into Melbourne, Victoria

19/9/1916     discharged from service in AIF
