Son of Walter Enoch Price Hays and Marion Elizabeth Hays nee Henfrey of Townsville, Queensland
At the time of enlisting he was employed with the Home Affairs Stores and Accounts Department (Railways)
Husband of Agnes Hays of Havelock Street, St. Kilda, Victoria later of Toowong, QLD. Father of Sybil P. Hays
Previously served in the Boer War for two and a half years with the 1st NSW Mounted Rifles rank of Private and service number 319
