Private Horace Greer Maynard was born at Albury, NSW in 1894. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 10th October, 1916 & disembarked at Devonport, England on 9th January, 1917. Private Maynard was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire on 20th January, 1917, with Bronchitis. He was reported seriously ill with Pneumonia on 22nd January, 1917 & died at 12.50 p.m. on 28th January, 1917 from Broncho - Pneumonia.

Pte Maynard is buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire with Australian Ptes Adams & Canham were buried on 31st January, 1917 next to each other. Their stories can be found here
