Frederick James Winstone
Frederick James Winstone was my paternal grandfather. He was a milk carrier, and when he enlisted for WW1 he was 35.
He was born in Reading, England and came to Australia in 1913. He & his wife Emily had 3 children, Frederick, Rosalind and Eileen.
My grandfather was injured at the Somme with a gunshot wound to his left cheek, resulting in blindness.
He returned to Perth, and eventually built his own home with the help of relatives.
In 1951, he passed away aged 71.
RIP Grandpop
