Son of John Bullen Rockliff and Elizabeth Mary Tulloch formerly Rockliff of 19 Ocean Road, Cottesloe, WA formerly Aberdeen Street, Perth, WA.

Brother of George Henry Rockliff who returned to Australia on 23 July 1919 having served with the Howitzer Brigade;  Harold John Rockliff who returned to Australia on 17 June 1918 having served with the 11th Battalion; William Hudson Rockliff MC MID who returned to Australia on29 June 1919 having served with the 44th Battalion

He had been promoted to the rank of Sergeant( date not known) but on 17 June 1915 he was reverted to Private at his own request
