Son of Richard Uren and Mary Uren nee Weir of Yunndaga, WA.
Served his Fitter & Turner apprenticeship with Menzies Consols, WA.
10 October 1916 - enlisted at Kalgoorlie, WA, with the 16th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
19 January 1919 - transferred to the 4th Motor Transport Company
2 February 1919 - promoted to Artificer
23 July 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Suevic disembarking on 2 September 1919
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
8 October 1919 - discharged at the 5th Military District
