At he time of enlistment he was stationed at the Victoria Barracks, Sydney, NSW

Son of Christian Veilgaard and Margaret Veilgaard nee Beaton of Nicholson Street, Fitzroy, Victoria. Brother of George Andrew Veilgaard who returned to Australia on 16 May 1919 having served with the 8th General Reinforcements.

Commenced return to Australia on 13 March 1918 disembarking on 14 June 1918
