In September 1914 (aged 44yrs 7 mths) George enlisted in AIF
He embarked at Sydney on the "Euripides" for Europe on 20 Oct 1914
Served in Egypt and England. Decorated and was promoted to Lieitenant Colonel in 1919.
Returned to Australia aboard the "Ceramic" on 12 March 1920
