Son of Robert Kinnnon and Katherine Ester Pearce Kinnon nee Miles of Glenella, Mackay, Qld. Brother of John Douglas Kinnon MM who returned to Australia 18 December 1918 having served with 4th Machine Gun Battalion; Henry Kinnon, Geoerge Kinnon, Elizabeth Kinnon and Rubina Kinnon

Husband of Hannah Ewers formerly Kinnon nee Cleary of Ayr, QLD. Robert and Hannah were married on 24 June 1912 in QLD. Fater of Robert William Kinnon, Verdun Richard Kinnon and John Douglas Kinnon

Served his five  year Blacksmith apprenticeship with N.P. Williamson of Mackay, QLD
