Albert was born in Gawler River, South Australia on 21 March 1907.
He became a Blacksmith, working with his father at Lipson, S.A. He spent 2 & half years at Penong, on the West Coast of S.A. & while there he built a single seater aeroplane. It went around on the ground all right but not enough power to take off. ( we have photos of this craft).
He spent 3 years as a mechanic at Provis & Hawkes in Tumby Bay and also worked in a garage before going to Kalgoorlie, W.A. to try his luck at goldmining.
