'W.O. Harold James Brabner (274), 11th Battalion, was born at Warracknabeal, Victoria, and educated at Bellevue, W.A. He enlisted at Perth in August, 1914, and sailed for Egypt with the 11th Battalion on the 30th October, 1914. He arrived there on the 6th December, 1914, and left for Lemnos Island on the 28th February, 1915. He then went on to Gallipoli where he took part in the Landing, and remained there until the evacuation. He returned to Egypt and then crossed to France, where he was wounded twice and was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer. He was in action at Pozieres, Flers, Armentieres, Bullecourt and Passchendaele, and was killed in action on the 17th September, 1917.' from Australia's Fighting Sons of Empire
