A GALLIPOLI SOLDIER
Much liked by hisfellow members of Penrith, sub-branch of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A., as he was by friends generally, was Mr. Roy McLeod Ford, who died at his residence, Second Avenue, Kingswood, on March 23 at the age of 59 years. Mr. Ford was born at Newtown and was the son of the late John Ford, and of Jessie Ford, who resides at Kingswood. He was an Anzac serving in the 4th Battalion, A.I.F. He was in the Army in World War II, doing home duties. He was a Sergeant-Major in prisoner-of-war camps in the west, and afterward in Sydney. For some years,Mr. Ford had suffered from heart trouble, though he had made some improvement a few months ago, and then took bad again. He is survived by his wife (Daisy), and by a son and two daughters—John (Pendle Hill). Heather (Mrs. McPherson, Toronto), and Jean (Kingswood), There are four grandchildren— Jeanette, Stephen, Ken, and Carol.
Brothers of deceased are Mr.  Colin Maxwell Ford, of Canberra, and Mr. Ken Ford, of Coogee. A sister is Mrs. Strahorn (Doris) of Canberra. Mr. Ford was an active member of Penrith sub-branch of the R.S.S.A.I.L.A. and was a member of the Gallipoll Legion. He had been living at Kingswood for the last 24 years. The funeral took place on Thursday, March 24, and was well attended. A service was held at Penrith Presbyterian Church, being conducted by the Rev. W.
