Cecil Peter was born on 28 November 1896 in Learmonth, Victoria, Australia. The son of Annabella and Peter Edwards. He had five brothers and five sisters. Cecil worked as a farm hand on his parent’s farm in the district of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. He volunteered for the AIF in 1915 where he was given his regimental number 3738 and obtained the rank of Lance, Corporal at the end of his basic training Cecil was posted overseas. He was wounded in action on 26 September 1917 and passed away on 27 September 1917 at the age of 20, and was buried at Poperinge, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium, in the military cemetery.
