David completed his recruit training at 1 RTB Kapooka and his Corps Training at Infantry Centre. He then was posted to 5 RAR joining 10 Platoon, Delta Company. David deployed to South Vietnam from 6 May 1966 until he returned to Australia with the Battalion on board HMAS Sydney on 12 May 1967. - Courtesy of Gary Townsend
