13 Mar 1965:	Transferred Royal Australian Navy, Ordinary Seaman, HMAS Sydney (III) , During his posting with HMAS Sydney, Max completed a tour of active service in Vietnam from 27th May to 26th June 1965 when the Sydney undertook duties delivering troops and equipment to and from Vietnam and undertook escort duties in the south china sea
