In 1923 Mr Clem Collins stood for Federal Parliment in the district of Murray in the interest of Labour. Mr Collins was born at Norton Sumet in 1894. Graduated through two Institutes of accountancy but had to abandon further studies and his occupation owing to the recurrance of injuries received on the battlefield. He underwent training at Pompoota for Dairying and was allotted a block at Wall one of the reclaimed swamps of the River Murray. He always taken a very keen interest in organising the dairy industry and is secretary of numerous organisations connected to them. Clem was the secretary of the Wall sub branch of the RSL South Australian Branch and a very active member of the State Council, and the League in general and was ever alert to any issues surrounding the Solider Settement.
He served in the Second World War and was Buried at the Murray Bridge Cemetery when he died in 1959.
