29 Aug 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, Villers-Bretonneux, For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty on March 30, 1918 when acting as a strtcher bearer in the counter attack by the 33rd Battalion AIF against the Marcelcave-Aubercourt line. Private Noonan worked continuously for twelve hours evacuating wounded from the forward area over open country swept by heavy machine gun and rifle fire and along a heavily shelled road. He displayed keenest sympathy and tireless energy, and undoubtedly was the means of saving many lives. | |
