John Layton Ricardo
I am the eldest granddaughter and I regret I never met the man, my maternal grandfather. I began reserching my mothers family tree and discovered my grand fathers identity. His grandfather, Gomez Ricardo originated from Mexico to Unley South Australia and married Sarah Newton, his son Juan married Clara Layton and they had Joseph and John.
I am proud to say I attended the Memorial in Geraldton for the HMAS Sydney 11 and was astounded by the emotion it invoked in me.
His blood line lives on in his grandchildren and their children.
