SO DEARLY LOVED SO SADLY MISSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN BY MOTHER

LATE PTE. E. W. J. VICKERS
Pte. Emest W. J. Vickers, son of Mr. Ernest Vickers, of the Locomotive Department at Mount Gambier, died on October 1 of wounds Received in France. Before enlisting he was employed at the Port Pirie  Smelting Works, but enlisted at Mildura three and a half years ago. He was born near Adelaide, and was in his twenty-first year.

News was received on Tuesday by Mr R. B. Vickers, Pirie West, that his brother (No. 4908). Pte. E. W. J. Vickers, 57th Battalion, died of wounds in the thigh and knee while in France on active service.  Pte. Vickers was well known in the B.H.A.S. works at Port Pirie, and was well liked by all who knew him. He had been on service for two years and nine months, and was 19½ years of age.

The Ven. Archdeacon Samwell received an official telegram yesterday announcing the death in France, on October 1, from wounds, of Priv. Ernest W, J. Vickers, son of Mr. Ernest Vickers, of the Loco  Department at Mount Gambier. When he enlisted 3½ years ago Priv. Vickers was visiting Mildura on holiday, but was employed at the Port Pirie Smelting Works. He was born at Prospect near Adelaide  and was in his 21st year. He was never at Mount Gambier.
