Uncle Spoggs & Auntie Marj

I can only say, that these two beautiful people, are without doubt the most welcoming, loving salt of the earth, Loveday Riverland blockies ever!
I am almost 60 now, but remember like yesterday the fun and excitement the Hollywood family in the 70's had when we were going up to Barmera to visit to shoot Ducks or Clay Targets.
I once asked my old Dad... at around 12 years of age, " Why are we members all the way up here Dad, At the Barmera Gun Club" ? His reply I will never forget!

He said, Joey, these are the real people in life you should be mixing with. He preferred to travel several hours up and back, on a Sunday... just to be with mates and life long friends.

I have to confess...... I was in LOVE with Uncle Spogg's daughter - Suzy. But, I was too slow. Some other local bloke, a fair footballer I'm told, snuck up and that was the end of that.

I have visited Pommy Road Loveday many times since, hoping to see SUZ out the front watering the lawn, so I could give her a little Kiss and talk about old times. Too late now!
Let this be a lesson for young players - HE WHO HESITATES, must pay the price!

Joey X for you Suzy.
