Son of William Quartermaine and Edith Mary Quatermaine nee Fry of Beaudesert, QLD. Brother of John Bazil Quartermaine MM who returned to Australia on 19 July 1919 having served with the 12th Light Trench Mortar Battery
On 4 January 1927 William married Marjorie Chrissie Rendle in QLD
Commenced return to Australia on 12 March 1920 aboard HT Ceramic disembarking on 6 May 1920 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane
