Son of Daniel O'Brien and Annie O'Brien nee Ryan of Abercombie Street, Redfern, NSW formerly from County Clare, Ireland
Next of kin given as his brother Matthew O'Brien of Forbes Street, Darlington, NSW.
Prior to coming to Australia William had served six months with the Special Reserves, Limmerick, Ireland
Commenced return to Australia on 30 January 1918 aboard HT Euripides disembarking on 21 March 1918 at Melbourne then onward travel by rail to Sydney.
