Pilot-Officer Raymond Herbert (Bob) White, 24. of Mackinnon court, Lower North Adelaide, has received the Distinguished Flying Cross according to advice received by his wife Aircraftwoman Kathleen White.
The citation from the Air Board states:-Pilot-Officer White on his first tour of operational duty has completed a large number of operational sorties, some of them attacks on heavily defended targets  such as Berlin, Frankfurt. and Essen.
"In  june last he attacked enemy troop con centrations locating the tar get and making successful attack despite very bad weather. This officer has been an invaluable member of the squadron."

Pilot - Officer White enlisted in July, 1941, and left for overseas in January, 1943. Before enlisting he was employed by Frederick WalsH, tailor, City. He was educated at Colonel Light Gardens Public  School and Unley High School.
