Lancelot Martin DELBRIDGE was born in 1891 in Christchurch, New Zealand
His parents were Joseph Martin DELBRIDGE and Alice Henrietta DESLANDES who married on 24th May, 1881 in the Wesleyan Church, Semaphore, South Australia - His Mother Alice died on 2nd July, 1893 in New Zealand and is buried in Linwood Cemetery, Christchurch, NZ
His father Joseph remarried on 6th November, 1894 in Manhattan, New York to a Annie/Nancy Gough BERRY
Lancelot joined up on 17th August, 1914 and then enlisted on 3rd September, 1914 with the Australian Army - he was with the 11th Battalion, E Company - Unit embarked from Fremantle, WA on board HMAT Ascanius on 2nd November, 1914
He was Killed in Action on 23rd September, 1916 and is buried in the Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm) in Belgium - he is also honoured on the Australian War Memorial and the Heidleberg Roll of Honour. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal with clasps & the Victory Medal.
