Son of Hubert Harris Drewer and Minna Little Drewer; husband of Rita Kathleen Drewer, of Millswood Estate, South Australia.
RESTING "THY WILL BE DONE"
Formerly a teacher of Millicent, SA, shortly after graduating from navigator training in Australia. Later promoted to the rank of Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt), he was seconded to the RAF in the United Kingdom and attached to No. 7 Squadron. While on operations over France, Flt Lt Drewer was killed in action on 24 June 1944, aged 34. His Lancaster aircraft was reported to have crashed at approximately 1 am in a field near the village of Warhem. The remains of the crew were buried in a communal grave at Warhem cemetery, France.
A plaque to the memory of Flight Lieutenant C. H. Drewer, a former teacher at Lefevre Peninsula Junior Technical High School, will be unveiled in the school library at 3 p..m tomorrow. He was killed in air operations during the war. The Mayor of Port Adelaide (Mr. G. M. Mackay) will perform the dedication ceremony. - 24 Oct 1946
In this week's RAAF official casualty list appears the name of Flt/Lt C. H. Drewer, of Millswood Estate, who is listed as missing from air operations overseas. Cliff was for some years attached to Bordertown Higher Primary School teaching staff, and was a keen tennis and cricket enthusiast, as well as a skilled violinist. He married Miss Rita Lampard.
