THOMAS WILLIAM CARLYON ANGOVE | 1917 – 2010
Thomas (Tom) William Carlyon Angove joined the business in 1940 after finishing Dux of his degree in oenology at the University of Adelaide. Tom significantly expanded the winery's crushing and processing facilities and established the 480-hectare Nanya vineyard – at the time, the largest single vineyard in the southern hemisphere.
Of note was Tom's early development of the 'Bag in Box' concept for storing wine. Tom was one of the most respected figures in Australian wine, awarded a Patron of the Wine Industry in 1993 and an AM, Member of the Order of Australia, for service to the industry in 1994.
