Spr. Peter Gilbert Maher of Armagh, Clare. Aged 21 son of Mr and Mrs V Maher of Armagh via Clare. Educated at Armagh and Clare High Schools. Took a keen interest in tennis, cricket and football. A gardener in civil life. Enlisted in Air Force in September 1940 at age 18 and transferred to 2nd AIF where he served in 2/3rd Ind. Coy, a Commando unit. He had been reported killed on active service in New Guinea in 18th August 1943.
