Colin Colbey was born at Renmark, the only child of Frank Hammond and Estelle (VINEY) COLBEY.
His father was a returned World War 1 veteran who was allocated an irrigation block at Renmark before moving to Adelaide for employment.
The family lived at Woodville and Colin won the Woodville High School Senior Sports Cup in 1938.
His Army Service Record notes that he married in Victoria 29 July 1943 to Nina.
