Returned Veteran of The Great War, resting in unmarked grave at Sandgate Cemetery, will be officially commemorated with a Commonwealth War Graves Plaque, curbing and marble chip, his Honour and Dignity to be restored.

Private William Richardson, 35th & 55th Battalions (Reg No-882), miner from Pitt Town, Wallsend, New South Wales and 12 Groongal Street, Mayfield West, N.S.W. (living with James Chalmers Bisson, 4th & 56th Battalions, Reg No-2788, who died 1940) and Waratah, N.S.W., was laid to rest on the 30th July 1948, age 61. GENERAL-26. 29.

Died 12.7.1948. found dead in hut. 30.7.1948.
Wooden cross erected - 13.12.2018.
Admitted to hospital 13.11.1916 (edentulous), 24.9.1917 (myalgia), wounded in action - 1.5.1918 (GSW left leg), returned home, invalided, January 1919.

Mr Richardson’s name has been inscribed on the Wallsend Soldiers' Memorial, Wallsend Municipal & District Roll of Honor and the Wallsend & Plattsburg Miners Home Branch (G.U.O.O.F.) Honour Roll.

Older brother Joseph Richardson (35th & 55th Battalions, Reg No-1686, born 1885, died 1964, Boolaroo, N.S.W.) also served 1st A.I.F.

Older brother Thomas Henry Richardson (30th Battalion, Reg No-525, born 1883, died 1963, Burwood, N.S.W.) also served 1st A.I.F.

Younger brother Albert Richardson (1st & 13th Battalions, born 1888, died 1942, Wallsend, N.S.W.) also served 1st A.I.F.
