LANCE CORPORAL HERBERT MORRIS PAGE

Service No. 243 - 20th Battalion “A” Company forming part of the 5th Brigade.

Born 1892 Moree, NSW, son of Henry J and Mary Ann Walsh. An Engineer, single, age 23 years, enlisted on 17 March 1915 at Liverpool, NSW.

Embarked 25 June 1915 on the Berrima. e, he served with the 20th Battalion A Company and Imperial Camel Corps for a period in Egypt.

Herbert was wounded at the Battle of Menin Road, Lijssenthoek, in the back and both legs, one leg amputated, he died age 25 from these wounds on the 24th of September 1917. Herbert is remembered at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Lijssenthoek, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium and Panel 92 Australian War Memorial.
