Allan Miller was the son of Edward William and Ellen Louisa (nee Wood) Miller of Port Broughton. He was born at Clare on 19 August 1896. A farmer, he was 22 years old when he enlisted as one of Butler’s 500 at Port Broughton on 5 September 1918.
On 18 September, at Mitcham AIF Camp, he was admitted to hospital for a hernia and was not discharged back to duty until 13 November. The war had ended 2 days earlier. Due to the cessation of hostilities he was discharged on 24 December 1918.
