WILSON, Andrew Campbell (1876-1955)

Andrew Campbell Wilson was born on 24 May 1876, to Patrick Clason Wilson and Mary nee Cameron of Colac. He was the sixth of eight children.

He commenced at Geelong College on 13 May 1889.

In 1913, he married Sarah Logan, daughter of John and Lydia Logan. They were residing at 'Wanelyra', Prospect Road, Newtown, when he, during World War I, he enlisted (No. 2349) on 5 July 1915 and embarked with 21 Battalion (21 Reinforcement Group) on RMS Osterley on 29 September 1915. He served in France with his battalion, and shortly before the Armistice transferred to 24 Battalion as a Driver on 13 October 1918. He returned to Australia on HMT Trasos Montes, embarking on 8 April 1919.

His obituary in Pegasus of June 1955 described him:
'Andrew Campbell Wilson was enrolled at the College in 1889. On leaving school he spent several years in pastoral work in Queensland. He served in the AIF in the first World War, and afterwards took up a grazing property in the Western District of Victoria. In more recent years he was employed at the Returned Soldiers' Woollen Mill, Geelong. He died on December 4, 1955 at the age of 79 years.'
