Biography contributed by Faithe Jones
Son of Uriah Alfred and Bessie Lavina Venables, of Laura.
Profound regret was expressed at Laura on Friday last when it became known that AC1 Cyril Venables, RAAF, aged 19 years, had met his death whilst training at a South Australian airfield, in which several otner airmen lost their lives. The deceased was educated at the Laura Public School and was employed in the butchering business of Mr. L. E. Rohrlach, prior to enlisting in the RAAF in December, 1942. He had also trained in Victoria.
He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. V. Venables of Laura, other members of the family are four brothers, Robert, Eric, Richard and Erney. The funeral was on Sunday morning.
We join with many others in tendering our sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones in their sad loss.
