Pte. Lionel Lazer, son of Mrs. Beatrice and the late Cyril Lazer, of 17 Lygon-street, Carlton, was killed in action in France on 9th August. He was first wounded in the shoulder, but refused to go to the dressing station, and had only advanced a few yards when a sniper's bullet shot him in the head, death being instantaneous.
