Les enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on the 5/2/1942 at Lameroo; his enlistment number was 47497; his next-of-kin was his father Alfred Davies. He was discharged on the 9/1/1946 with the rank of Leading Aircraftman with the 5th Operational Training Unit.

Les married Gladys Christina Whiley

Les applied to the Soldier Settlement Scheme and was allocated land at Section 95, Hundred of Newland, Kangaroo Island.

Les and Gladys had 6 children - John, Shirley, Christina, Kathleen, Margaret & Stanley

Les died at the Hundred of Newland Kangaroo Island in an accident on their farm
