Add my storyBiography contributed by Daryl Jones
Son of Mr and Mrs J.L. WHITTENBURY of 6 Short Street, Wayville. Educated at Black Forest Public School, Stanley enjoyed cricket, football and tennis. He was also very fond of music and played the clarionet and saxaphone in several Adelaide bands and with the R.A.A.F. at Mallala. In civilian life he was with Myer Emporium Ltd. in the silk department, but left this position and went to Whyalla and joined the B.H.P. Company. He was a member of the Spencer Gulf Aero Club, and gained his pilot and carrying licence. After 3 years' service at Whyalla he joined the R.A.A.F. in April 1941.
