18 Sep 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, Citation reads: A very gallant and capable transport Sergeant. During the period 16th/17th September, 1918 to 11th November, 1918 the service of this N.C.O. to his Battalion have been particularly worthy of commendation. The Battalion was in the line east of Peronne on 18th September, and in the absence of the transport officer this N.C.O. carried out the transport duties in a highly creditable manner. Transport routes to Battalions in the line lay through heavily shelled areas and this N.C.O. was so completely successful in his arrangements for the necessary conveyance of rations and ammunition etc. through heavily shelled areas that no casualties were sustained. No hardship was inflicted on the men but meals cooked at the transport lines were always delivered on time and generally the interests of the men in the line so carefully studied that they suffered no unavoidable inconvenience. During the period the Battalion was in rest, Sergeant Guthridge was distinguished by the energy and zeal with which he supported his transport officer in the efficient working of the transport section and in no small degree he is responsible for the highly creditable state of the Battalion transport.
