Son of Jasper Clement STIGGANTS and Mary Neil nee SMITH of Warramboo, Eyre Peninsula. Educated at Yanninee he was fond of outdoor life, football, cricket, rifle shooting and was keen on motoring and mechanically inclined. James was a farmer in civilian life and enlited in July 1940 leaving for Malay in November 1941. He was reported missing and taken prisoner of war at Tanglin, Singapore. His sister was Mrs. Olive Churches, of Richard Street, Flinders Park, SA.
