Son of Henry William Vinicombe and Nellie Vinicomber nee Gwynne of Yarra Street, South Melbourne, Victoria later of Bridge Street, Port Melbourne, Victoria.
Brother of Walter Vinicombe who returned to Australia on 9 March 1920 having served with the 5th Battalion.
Returned to Australia (first time) on 15 April 1915 aboard HT Ulysses
On 7 May 1919 William married Agnes Jones nee Cook in the Registry Office, Bristol, England. A.H. Richards oifficiated.
Commenced return to Australia (second time) on 12 July 1919 aboard HT Indarra disembarking on 6 September 1919
