HQ 24 Infantry Brigade July 1942 – War Diary

17 July 1942.

“T/Capt. J.L. Hallifax, Bde T.O., was killed in action today. Capt. HALLIFAX was a most energetic officer, whose active and good – natured disposition was well-known throughout the Bde. For a long period, since Bde was in TOBRUK, Capt. HALLIFAX had acted as Camp Commandant and his hard work in this capacity had benefited all ranks of Bde HQ. Capt. HALLIFAX was forward at the time he was killed; while fwd attending to tpt matters, he came upon a group of soldiers whose off had become a casualty. Capt. HALLIFAX immediately set about reorganizing them, and while engaged in this was killed by shellfire “
