Son of Thomas Quinn and Catherine Quinn of 'Owengap', Scone, NSW.

Brother of Thomas Regis Quinn who returned to Australia on 25 October 1917 having served with the 14th Field Ambulance and Cornelius Quinn who returned to Australia on 2  September 1916 having served with the  Imperial Camel Corps. 

Commenced return to Australiaon 1 November 1917 aboard HT Anchises disembarking on 3 January 1918  at Melbourne for overland travel to Sydney
