Son of W H and E M FRYER of Chingford Mount, London, England.
Husband of Catherine Harriet Annie FRYER of 20 Chatham Street, Adelaide, SA.
Educated at Morning Lane School in London, William was interested in soccer, skating, cyling and shooting. He was also fond of music and keen on photography and wireless (television). In civilian life he was a maintenance engineer for the past 20 years. William was born in London, joined the boy scouts in 1908 and served in France with the Middlesex Regiment in the Great War. After the Armistice he was two years with the Army of Occuaption in Cologne. He came to Australia in 1922. He was captain of the British Imperial Services soccor team, winning the Cambridgshire Cup and Pleca Shiled 1922/23. Left England in March 1939 and returned to Australia and enlisted in December 1939. He served in the Home Guard B Company No 2 Battalion.
